Inspired by the Roman, Hellenistic and Byzantine jewelry of the Near East, my work focuses on a reinterpretation of these ornate, intricately wrought, gold forms. My pieces seek to create a bridge between the beauty of that ancient cultural heritage and modern aesthetics.
Using traditional jewelry making techniques and particularly granulation, I am interested in building a body of work that will be relevant to the present time but also represent, in terms of technique and skill, a link to the jewelry making traditions of the past.
